Organizing you r rooms

Living Room

Organizing a living room can be very difficult, since it is often the most used room in the whole house. One way to begin is to get a wastebasket for the room, and have it match your room’s décor. This will help to clean up any clutter around the room and keep things generally clean. Next, a small file cabinet or bookcase makes a great spot for magazines and papers that tend to gather around flat surfaces. Since kids are often in and out of the living room, toys can gather throughout the room. Creating play areas in the living room, complete with storage bins for toys, is a great way to organize toys. Since a coffee table can turn into a surface for random items, it’s a good idea to add storage underneath it. Rolling bins or storage cubes are great for this. Finally, adding something like a trunk or storage bin behind a sofa is a great way to store blankets and pillows and keep them out of sight.

Bedroom

Since bedrooms are probably the second most used room in the house, they can also be a challenge to organize. One great place to add storage that not everyone thinks of is underneath your bed. Storage bins on small wheels or containers are a great way to sort items and keep them under the bed. Closets can often become cluttered with clothing and other items, but a shoe rack can solve this issue. While it may sound odd, making your bed in the morning is a good way to keep your room organized. It doesn’t only help you room look clean, it also helps stop you from storing items on your bed, such as laundry. If you’re looking to add even more storage to your bedroom, vertical storage is the way to go. A tall bookcase or shelf adds storage while not taking up much space in the room.

Organize

Kitchen

Since the kitchen has such a large variety of items in it, finding a way to organize them all effectively can be hard. One fun way to start is by making your own pot and pan rack. This can be done with a handrail and some “S” hooks, and is a great way to store your cookware and keep it organized. Another similar idea is to make a spice display, or simply display your spices in glass jars with homemade labels. This keeps them organized and easy to identify. When storing cleaning items like gloves or sprays, go to under the sink for storage. Add some hooks to the back of the cabinet door, and you have a great place to hang gloves or rags while they dry. These tips should help you get your kitchen organized and sort through items with ease!

Bathroom

Bathrooms may not be the biggest room in the house, but this doesn’t make them any less of a challenge to organize or clean. One way to add storage that is out of sight is to keep a plastic tub or bin under the sink. This is a great way to store hair products and other items that you normally would have on the counter. A unique way to add storage to the bathroom is to have over the toilet furniture. Something like a decorative box or cabinet works great for this, and is a good place to store items such as toilet paper or towels. A bath or shower area can often become cluttered with various items such as shampoo, shaving cream, and soaps. Keep all of these items organized in a shower caddy and keep your shower and bath area clean!

Get Organized

Garage

When organizing a garage, it can be hard to find a spot to start. A great spot to begin is by adding wall storage. Some simple hooks or racks can be a good place for storing tools such as rakes and shovels. You can also add storage on the ceiling with platforms or hooks. The ceiling is a great spot to store something large, like a bike or a ladder. If you have a work bench set up in your garage, you can add cabinets or shelving either next to or above it. This will help to keep tools and other items organized when using the work bench.

Playroom

A playroom can quickly get cluttered with toys. One way to prevent this is to use transparent bins for easy storage and visibility. When storing toys, this makes it easy for kids to find where they belong. You can use items from other rooms in the house, such as laundry bins, for additional storage in a playroom. Another way to use space efficiently is to have storage that doubles as seating, such as a window seat with a lid. You can even make this yourself and decorate it to match the room. A window seat allows for toy storage and also a place to sit or play.
